Utah Labor Commissioner Appoints New UALD Director

Commissioner Jaceson R. Maughan of the Utah Labor Commission has announced the appointment of Kendra Shirey as the Director of the Utah Antidiscrimination and Labor Division (UALD) for the Utah Labor Commission.

UALD investigates and resolves employment and housing discrimination complaints and enforces Utah’s minimum wage, wage payment requirements and laws which protect youth in employment. The Division also promotes public awareness through educational presentations and training workshops.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Shirey was a Litigation Partner at the law firm of Pia Anderson Moss Hoyt (PAMH) for seven years. Previous to her work with PAMH, she served as a Senior Associate in the Litigation Practice Group of Holme Roberts and Owen and Parry Anderson & Gardner.

Ms. Shirey earned her Juris Doctorate at the S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2002.

“I look forward to working with Kendra and have great confidence in her capabilities and the experience and leadership that she brings to the Utah Antidiscrimination and Labor Division,” Commissioner Maughan stated. “I am confident that she will serve the people of Utah with professionalism and integrity.”

“I have been a litigator in private practice for 16 years and this is a new challenge and experience that I look forward to,” said Ms. Shirey. “Serving as the Director of UALD is a welcome opportunity to make a difference in our community.”
