Utah Labor Commission Offers Grant Funding to Enhance Workplace Safety Practices

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Labor Commission is requesting applications to award funding for projects or initiatives demonstrating a commitment to workplace safety. The purpose of the grant program is to provide funding to entities who desire to implement initiatives that promote new or existing safety programs within the workplace.

Proposals appropriate for funding may include, but are not limited to, the development of workshops and training programs, implementation of specialized safety programs, and collaborative workplace safety training between organizations.

This grant year may include up to $750,000 in total awards to selected grant recipients. Eligible entities include, but are not limited to, nonprofit organizations, community and faith-based groups, employer associations, labor unions, joint labor-management associations and small businesses.

The Utah Labor Commission awards these grants each year in order to create opportunities to fund and enhance projects that may not otherwise exist and that also improve workplace safety practices.

The grant application and guidelines are available online at or by contacting Jacob Barnhart, Public Information Officer / WPS Grant Coordinator at (801) 707-1108 or via email at

Grant Applications are due on or by Friday, October 20, 2016 by 5:00 p.m. The grant period will cover projects implemented in the 12 month period between January and December 2017
