SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Labor Commission is proud to announce the appointment of Kerry Chlarson, as the new Director of the Anti-Discrimination & Labor Division (UALD).
“Kerry’s dedication to serving people, along with his professionalism and strong work ethic, will be a great asset for UALD while they work to achieve their goals,” Commissioner Sherrie Hayashi stated.
Chlarson graduated from the University of Utah in 1985, and soon after was commissioned an officer in the United States Marine Corps. It is during that time that he was injured. After his release from active duty, Kerry returned to school and graduated from the S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1991. While at law school, Kerry completed internships with the United States Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor; and with Justice I. Daniel Stewart, of the Utah Supreme Court.
Prior to being hired by the Utah Labor Commission to work as an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) with the Wage Claim Unit, Chlarson was the managing attorney at the Disability Law Center, where most of his work involved cases related to civil and human rights of persons with disabilities.
