Utah's Annual Workplace Safety and Health Art Contest
Public and private Middle and Junior High Schools are sent an informational package with rules at the beginning of every school year. This contest is designed to help build awareness about workplace safety and health by the "Take Safety Seriously" moniker. During the past 8 years, the number of entries has increased from just around 100 to over 1000 entries for 2007. The top 12 winners are included in the Utah Workplace Safety and Health Calendar each year for use by employers as safety posters to highlight the need for workplace safety. Many of the prior winners have shown how accidents impact on quality of life for the employee, family and on society as a whole. Hopefully, the students learn to think about safety and how to get the word out to their family, friends and neighbors. The winners and also their school receive a cash amount for their part to "Take Safety Seriously" in this statewide contest. Contact Robyn Barkdull for further details.
